Customer Challenge. As the use of SharePoint increases within the enterprise, it is not uncommon to require the ability to add events to multiple event lists in a single calendar view within SharePoint. Aside from the requirement to view multiple items, many users prefer to print the calendar without the SharePoint Web Part frames and formatting commonly referred to as “Chrome”.

Business Challenge. Any application that aggregates content within the portal must conform to the security model provided by the platform by not showing items the user has no access to. The selection of multiple event items must be intuitive and easily modified by a standard SharePoint user.

The print view must not use the SharePoint display framework and must fit on a standard 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper in landscape mode.

Solution. MicroLink developed the Executive Calendar which allows for the selection of multiple events lists via an intuitive navigation tree on the Web Part properties tool bar. Additionally, the MicroLink solution provides multiple calendar views (Year, Month, Day, and Hour) as well as the ability to print directly from the Web Part.
