Customer Challenge. Many IT organizations create user accounts by hand which routinely leads to erroneous group assignments, non uniform user naming conventions and lost organizational productivity due to network administrators troubleshooting and fixing non standard accounts.

Additional complexity is added to the account creation process when a PKI infrastructure is used as a means of user authentication. While PKI is more secure than username and password models, it add additional steps to the Active Directory creation process—further tying down an already overburdened IT staff.

Business Challenge. To create a library that provides organizations with the ability to provision accounts without having to write code into the directory management functions. The application must provide the ability to seamlessly integrate with other platforms using an accepted interface.

Solution. MicroLink has created an application suite that allows customers to implement the Active Directory account creation process by creating and submitting strongly typed XML files to a file share or simple API calls. By utilizing XML, the Account Provisioner can be easily integrated into a workflow process enabling organizations to standardize account formats and approval paths.

MicroLink’s Account Provisioner Suite has the ability to integrate the creation of standard user accounts with an organizationally approved PKI infrastructure authentication model.
